Talented inside back Ben Lucas has recommitted to the QR Reds for a further two years, keen to continue playing a part in the Reds’ resurgence.
Head Coach Ewen McKenzie said Lucas was an extremely valuable member of the squad and he was delighted that he had accepted the offer to re-sign through to 2012.
"You can only be as good as the depth of your squad allows and in Ben, we have someone who gives us multiple options because of his ability to play scrumhalf, flyhalf or even wider in the backline. He’s tremendously valuable to us in that regard," McKenzie said.
While Wallaby scrumhalf Will Genia and in form flyhalf Quade Cooper currently have the jump on Lucas for the 9 or 10 jerseys, the 22 year old relishes the competition.
"Obviously there is some good competition ahead of me at the moment, but Ewen has some good ideas on how I can develop my game," Lucas said.
"As well as that, Queensland rugby is moving forward after some lean times and I want to be a part of it."
